Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has addressed the physical condition and form of the club's record signing, Alexander Isak. The 26-year-old Swedish forward, who transferred from Newcastle last August for a fee of £125 million, has struggled during his debut season on Merseyside due to injuries. Specifically, the player was sidelined for four months with a broken leg and has managed to score only three goals this season, according to Goal.com reports.

Slot emphasized that Isak is not yet at his peak potential and is currently undergoing a physical recovery process. The manager noted that the forward requires a full six-week pre-season training program to reach his true level. He also suggested that the player's participation in international tournaments could help him regain his competitive rhythm.

Simultaneously, the coach commented on the decline in productivity of the team's main star, Mohamed Salah. Salah has found the back of the net only seven times in the Premier League this season. According to Slot, although the strikers' scoring rates have decreased compared to last year, this is a temporary situation that will soon change for the better.

Liverpool will host Crystal Palace at home this Saturday. The team faces serious squad selection issues, with up to 11 players potentially missing the match. Following injuries to goalkeepers Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili, third-choice keeper Freddie Woodman is expected to start. Isak will be included in the match squad, although he is not yet ready to play a full 90 minutes.
