Sandro Scherer to officiate semifinal between PSG and Bayern

Sandro Scherer will officiate the semifinal match between PSG and Bayern

The refereeing team for the match between PSG and Bayern in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal has been announced. UEFA has entrusted this important game to Swiss referee Sandro Scherer. This was reported by Goal.com reports.

Bayern, led by Vincent Kompany, will take to the pitch at Parc des Princes in Paris in an attempt to reach the final for the first time since 2020. However, Scherer’s appointment is causing some concern among supporters of the Munich club.

During his career, Scherer has officiated two Bayern matches. If the 2-0 victory over Lokomotiv in the 2020/21 season was a positive memory, last season’s experience was different.

Last year, the Munich side lost 2-1 at home to Inter in the quarterfinals in a match officiated by Scherer. Although there were no mistakes in the referee’s decisions, the result paved the way for the German club’s elimination from the competition.

At the same time, Borussia Dortmund beat Lille 2-1 and advanced to the next round under this referee. On that occasion, French club president Olivier Létang protested, accusing the referee of speaking only German.

Sandro Scherer, who is now 37, has spoken about his footballing past and admitted that he had a very difficult character on the pitch. He described himself as a “rebellious” and “hard to manage” player.
