Sandro Schärer appointed to referee PSG vs Bayern Munich match

The officiating crew for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final match between PSG and Bayern Munich has been announced. UEFA has appointed Swiss Sandro Sherer for this responsible match. Goal.com reports this.
This appointment is causing some concern among fans of the Munich club.

Vincent Kompany's side will take to the field at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris, aiming to secure a place in the final for the first time since 2020. During his career, Sherer has officiated two matches involving the Munich team.
While the 2:0 victory over Lokomotiv in the 2020/21 season was positive, the result from last season looked different.
Last year, in the first leg of the quarter-finals, Bayern lost 1:2 at home to Inter. Although there were no objections regarding Sherer's officiating at the time, that specific defeat was the main reason for the German club's exit from the tournament.
At the same time, another German club — Borussia Dortmund — has found success in matches officiated by Sherer. Following a victory over Lille in the round of 16, the French club's president Olivier Letang criticized the referee, noting that he spoke only in German and stating that this situation was suspicious.
Currently 37 years old, Sandro Sherer also performed as a football player in his time. Recalling his past, he admits that he was a player with a very difficult character and undisciplined on the pitch.
According to the referee, he was a true rebel in his youth, and this may have influenced his current firm officiating style.
