A goal from Portuguese midfielder Joau Palinya secured Tottenham's first victory of 2026. The London side defeated bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton 1-0 at home. Goal.com reports this.
In the final minutes of the match, Palinya scored from close range following a scramble after a corner kick. This success ended a 16-match winless streak for the "Spurs" and kept the team's hopes of remaining in the elite alive.
"This victory means more than three points for me, the fans, and the entire club," Palinya said after the game. Nevertheless, the team remains in the danger zone, trailing West Ham by two points.
Palinya moved from Fulham to Bayern Munich in 2024 for 51 million euros. However, due to limited playing time under Vincent Kompany at the Munich club, he was loaned to Tottenham for 5 million euros.
The London club currently holds an option to purchase the player for 25 million euros. According to reports, Tottenham management is in negotiations with Bayern Munich to lower this price.
The player's future will depend on the team's survival in the Premier League.
