Niklas Süle, a Champions League winner with Bayern and current Borussia Dortmund defender, has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 30. The German national team defender revealed the reasons behind his decision on the Spielmacher podcast, as reported by Goal.com. reports .

Süle stated that an injury sustained during a match against Hoffenheim completely changed his perspective on life. The player admitted he cried in the dressing room for 10 minutes, fearing he had torn his knee ligaments. Although medical examinations showed the injury was not serious, the fear served as a catalyst for his decision to leave football.

"At that moment, I realized it was all over for me. When I think about spending time with my family and children in the future, I couldn't even imagine suffering a third major injury," the defender said. Since moving from Bayern to Borussia Dortmund in 2022, he had become a key player for the team.

Throughout his career, Niklas Süle won numerous titles with Bayern and made 109 appearances for Borussia Dortmund. He recalled the thrilling moments of the season when he fought for the title with Borussia Dortmund as his fondest memories.
