Uli Hoeneß: Football is being taken too seriously

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß has expressed his dissatisfaction with the overly serious tone of modern football. He believes it is irrational that sports news is now covered alongside global conflicts. Hoeneß emphasized that players' lives were much freer and more authentic in his day, whereas now every step is under scrutiny. This is reported by Goal.com .

The honorary president also sharply criticized the pricing policy set by FIFA for the 2026 World Cup. He stated that the football final should not turn into a commercial show like the Super Bowl, and that expensive luxury boxes intended for billionaires are contrary to the interests of real fans.

Touching on Bayern Munich's social responsibility, Hoeneß expressed pride in maintaining season ticket prices at 175 euros. According to him, football is primarily for ordinary fans, and they should not have to sacrifice their basic needs to watch a game.
