Milan defeat puts Champions League qualification at risk

In the 36th round of Serie A, Milan hosted Atalanta and suffered a 2-3 defeat. The match at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza was a difficult one for the Rossoneri, as this result poses a serious threat to the team's fight for a Champions League spot.
The match started very poorly for Milan. In the 7th minute, Ederson opened the scoring to put the visitors ahead. In the 29th minute, Zappacosta doubled Atalanta's lead. Early in the second half, Raspadori scored the third goal in the 52nd minute, further solidifying the Bergamaschi's confidence in victory.
Milan only seemed to wake up towards the end of the game. In the 88th minute, Pavlovic scored to narrow the gap. In the 90+4th minute, Nkunku converted a penalty, seemingly reigniting the intrigue. However, the Rossoneri could not find an equalizer in the remaining time.
Recently, the results of the team led by Massimiliano Allegri have been causing serious concern. Milan has scored only 3 goals and earned just 4 points in their last 6 matches. This is a very poor record for a club fighting for a Champions League spot.
After this defeat, Milan dropped to 4th place with 67 points. Juventus moved up to third with 68 points. Roma also reached 67 points, catching up with the Rossoneri. Como is also close behind with 65 points. Thus, the final rounds of the season will be a real test of nerves for Milan.
Atalanta, meanwhile, reached 58 points after this victory and moved into 7th place. The Bergamaschi played confidently away from home and took full advantage of their opponent's mistakes.
