Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has named Barcelona, the La Liga champions, as the best club in the world. The Argentine tactician praised the performance of Hansi Flick's side this season and highlighted their results. This is reported by Goal.com .
Nevertheless, Simeone did not hide his pride in his own team's success throughout the season. He recalled that Atletico Madrid managed to knock this powerful Barcelona side out of two different competitions. The Madrid side defeated the Catalan club in the Copa del Rey semi-finals and the Champions League quarter-finals.
"Barcelona is currently the best team in the world. They played the league at a very high level. Watching their games, I thought to myself, 'My God, we knocked this team out of two competitions!'" said Simeone.
Ahead of the upcoming match against Osasuna, the coach also touched upon squad changes. He stated that defender Jose Maria Gimenez's injury is not serious and that the player will return to action soon. Simeone also did not rule out giving opportunities to young academy players in the upcoming match.
