Urbig's appearance in the match against Wolfsburg (1-0) marked his 30th appearance for Bayern. This milestone earned 1. FC Köln an additional 2 million euros. The total transfer fee for the 22-year-old goalkeeper, who was signed for 7 million euros in January 2025, could reach up to 15 million euros if all clauses are met.
Furthermore, if Jonas Urbig makes his debut for the Germany national team, Bayern will have to pay another 1 million euros. Experts like Lothar Matthäus and Mario Basler emphasize that the young goalkeeper should be called up to the national team and even start in the World Cup.
Currently, uncertainty remains regarding Manuel Neuer's retirement or potential return to the national team. Bayern's management plans to extend Neuer's contract, but it is expected that the experienced goalkeeper will rotate with Urbig in the future and serve as his mentor.
