Arsenal legend Martin Keown shared his thoughts ahead of the team's Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. According to him, if Mikel Arteta's men win in Budapest to secure the club's first European Cup, they will surpass the legendary 2004 "Invincibles" squad. This is reported by Goal.com .
Although that squad led by Arsene Wenger won the Premier League title unbeaten, they could not lift the Champions League trophy, losing the 2006 final to Barcelona. Keown emphasizes that European success would make the current squad the number one team in club history.
"They will simply be winners, and that is enough for me. They will go down in history as the first Champions League winners. We have suffered many failures in Europe: losing in the Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Cup finals. Now the club must achieve a major result in Europe," says Keown.
The former defender also mentioned that the Queen song "We Are The Champions" has a positive impact on the team's morale. He believes the winning mentality from celebrating the Premier League title gives players extra strength and pushes them to reach new heights.
