Arsenal's defense fails at its weakest point against PSG

In a thrilling final in Budapest, Paris Saint-Germain retained the Champions League title by defeating Arsenal in a penalty shootout. Kai Havertz put the Londoners ahead in the 6th minute, but Ousmane Dembele equalized from the penalty spot in the 65th minute. The score remained unchanged in extra time, and the Parisians triumphed 4-3 on penalties. This is reported by Goal.com .

The game started very well for Arsenal. After the early goal, Mikel Arteta's men relied on their greatest strength — defense. Although PSG circulated the ball around the opponent's penalty area, they could not break through the visitors' compact 4-4-2 defensive structure. For 65 minutes, one of Europe's best defenses neutralized attackers like Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

However, in the end, the Arsenal wall cracked where it was expected — at right-back. Due to injuries to Jurrien Timber and Ben White, Arteta was forced to deploy Cristhian Mosquera, a natural center-back, in that position. The 21-year-old Spaniard struggled against Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. In the 65th minute, the Georgian winger dribbled past Mosquera and was brought down inside the box. Ousmane Dembele made no mistake from the spot.

In the penalty shootout, Eberechi Eze and Gabriel failed to convert their chances. For PSG, only a fatigued Nuno Mendes missed. Thus, the Paris club lifted the continent's most prestigious trophy for the second consecutive time.
