Painful defeat: What did Mirjalol Qosimov say after the match in Bukhara?

The head coach of Olmaliq’s OKMK, who suffered a difficult and fiercely contested defeat in the 17th round of the Uzbekistan Super League, Mirjalol Qosimov shared his thoughts after the 0–2 match against Bukhoro.

The experienced coach openly admitted that his team are conceding very simple goals and that the goalkeeper’s uncertain performance in the first half contributed to the defeat.

“It was a six-point game”

Mirjalol Qosimov highlighted the match’s importance in the league table and said his team had failed to take their chances:

“What can I say about the game? It was interesting and intense. We were also very close to each other in the league table. But you have to score to win. I had said before that we were conceding very simple and foolish goals. This was essentially a six-point game for us, and I had emphasized that to the players. I congratulate Bukhoro on the victory.

We had at least five good chances during the match. Even when the score was 0–0, we had some excellent opportunities, but we could not score. We create chances, but have great difficulty finding the net, while we concede goals from straightforward situations. I said the same thing in the dressing room just now: you have to score to win,” Qosimov said.

“It was a ball he could have easily caught with his hands”

Asked by journalists about the substitution of first-choice goalkeeper Javohir Ilyosov at half-time—Hamidullo Abdunabiyev came on in the 46th minute—the coach replied:

“Everything in the first half began with simple mistakes. There were errors when restarting play, twice when throwing the ball out by hand, and when making crosses... There were some incomprehensible and hesitant actions. Even in the goal-scoring situation, it was not particularly difficult—it was a ball he could have easily caught with his hands.

I saw what happened. Perhaps he had not slept well, or perhaps he had not prepared seriously enough for the game... I cannot say exactly why at the moment. Later, when we study the match carefully and speak with the players, we will find out everything,” the OKMK coach concluded.
