Modernized T-64 tank demonstrated in Uzbekistan

Modernized T-64 tank demonstrated in Uzbekistan
A modernized version of the modernized T-64 tank was demonstrated at the MSITF-2025 defense and security technologies exhibition, which was held for the first time in Uzbekistan, the Russian Center for Analysis of Strategy and Technologies reported.

It is noted that South Korean military-industrial companies may have provided technical assistance in the process of upgrading the tank. The updated tank, with its technical and functional characteristics, has become more efficient and modern in appearance compared to the traditional T-64B model.

Main innovations of the new tank

The most important technical innovation of the tank is its engine, which is considered its heart. Instead of the previously used 700-horsepower 5TDF diesel engine, a new, more powerful Doosan DP222LC engine with a capacity of 950 horsepower has been installed. Such modernization will increase the tank's mobility, improve fuel efficiency, and increase its ability to cover long distances.

The tank is also equipped with an automatic transmission, which makes it much easier to control. This armored vehicle, weighing 40 tons, can move at a speed of 65 km/h. The range is 500 km.

Modern armor and armament

The updated T-64 tank is equipped with new composite (multi-layer) armor, which consists of additional layers of steel and fiberglass. This protection system increases its resistance to high-caliber ammunition and explosive weapons.

The tank is also quite effective in terms of armament. Its main armament is a 125 mm 2A46M-2 smoothbore gun. It is also equipped with 7.62 mm PKT and RKT machine guns.

Historical tank - a new stage

As is known, the T-64B tank was first produced by the Soviet Union in 1976 and was considered one of the world's leading armored vehicles at the time. The fact that new tanks are currently being created on its chassis and structural base using new technological capabilities indicates that it is a platform with high potential.

Conclusion: a new stage in tank construction

This tank, presented at the MSITF-2025 exhibition, can become not only a legacy from the past, but also part of a new generation of defense equipment. The upgrades introduced into it - a new engine, automatic transmission, reinforced armor and modern weapons - make the tank an effective tool for military purposes.

The increasing role of such technical models in the modernization of Uzbekistan's military potential certainly indicates the country's promising steps in the defense sector.
