According to well-known and reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to present its first foldable smartphone to the general public in 2026. The company is making serious preparations to enter the market of gadgets equipped with new technologies.
As Kuo notes, the foldable iPhone project will officially start at the Foxconn factory, which supplies Apple’s device components, in September or October. Although many of the smartphone's important components are currently being developed, the most interesting part—the foldable display—has already been confirmed.
According to information, mass production of the foldable iPhone will begin in the summer of 2026, and it will be introduced to the public in the fall of that year. Apple plans to introduce this innovative device as part of the iPhone 18 lineup.
Currently, there are no official announcements about the foldable iPhone. However, according to insider information, the smartphone will be equipped with a 7.8-inch flexible OLED display, which is close to the size of a tablet screen. When folded, the phone's external display will be 5.5 inches diagonally.
Previously, famous Apple product analyst Mark Gurman shared information about two main features of the new device. The first is the almost invisible folding line on the display, and the second is a hinge system that is much stronger and of higher quality than competitors'. Analysts believe this hinge may be made from stainless steel and titanium alloy.
The estimated price of the new foldable smartphone will be between $2,000 and $2,500. Apple expects high demand for the device and plans to sell up to 6 million units in the first year after launch.
It should be noted that Apple is still the only major technology company that has not yet entered the foldable smartphone market. The company's main competitor, Samsung, is preparing to release the world's first tri-fold smartphone this year. In addition, Samsung also plans to introduce a more affordable foldable device at a price similar to the iPhone 16. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
