A mosquito-sized drone has been developed in China for classified military operations, according to the South China Morning Post.
The drone was created by the robotics laboratory at the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) in Hunan Province. It is well-suited for intelligence gathering and special missions on the battlefield.
The military device has three hair-thin “legs” that can be used for landing. Such drones may be utilized in urban warfare, search and rescue missions, or electronic surveillance.
Due to their nearly undetectable flight, these drones are highly valuable for covert warfare, espionage, and tactical reconnaissance. They can be controlled via smartphone.
Currently, the smallest serially produced military drone is Norway’s PD-100 Black Hornet, measuring 100 mm in length and weighing 18 grams. It can reach speeds of up to 5 m/s, operate up to 1 km from the operator, and stay airborne for up to 25 minutes.
According to preliminary reports, the Chinese drone may surpass the Norwegian model in stealth and maneuverability. However, the exact technical specifications of the new drone remain unknown. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
