Famous entrepreneur and founder of SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk, has sharply criticized the online encyclopedia Wikipedia. According to him, the platform cannot currently be used as a reliable source.
Musk stated that Wikipedia’s editorial policy is overly “left-leaning and nihilistic,” which seriously undermines the neutrality of its information. He believes that in presenting materials, certain ideas and political viewpoints are prioritized over others.
Interestingly, Musk’s opinion was supported by one of the portal’s founders — Larry Sanger. In his statement, Sanger noted that in recent years, many users have lost trust in Wikipedia and that the encyclopedia has serious problems in maintaining true impartiality.
Analysts point out that although Wikipedia is among the world’s most popular online sources of information, its open-edit nature allows subjective approaches to sometimes find their way into the content. This prompts readers to critically analyze the information they consume.
