Russia and China agree to build an international base on the Moon

A major space program of global importance is being launched in cooperation between Russia and China. According to RBK, President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China took the initiative at the 25th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. According to him, Beijing called on all SCO member states to join the new project being implemented jointly with Russia.

We are talking about the International Scientific Moon Station (ILRS). This project is a joint program between Roscosmos and the National Space Administration of China. According to the plan, the construction of the facility will be carried out between 2031-2035.

Wu Yanhua, the main developer of China's long-range space exploration program, stated that by 2035, the station will be located at the south pole of the Moon. It will be possible to conduct scientific research within a radius of 100 kilometers.

This initiative is expected to open the door to scientific achievements not only for Russia and China, but for all of humanity. The station, which will be built on the Moon, will allow for large-scale research in geology, astronomy, the atmosphere, and various fields of science.

In fact, the idea of building an international base on the Moon was first announced in 2021. At that time, this initiative was met with interest by many countries and experts. Now the plan is entering a practical phase.
