Penske Media, owner of Rolling Stone, has filed a lawsuit against Google, TechCrunch reported. The claim centers on Google's use of AI to generate summaries from Penske-owned content without permission.

According to the complaint, Google's Gemini AI platform produces automatic article summaries based on Penske Media’s journalism and displays them to users. This is being framed as a violation of copyright laws.

The company is calling for legal restrictions on AI accessing and using content from independent publishers. The lawsuit adds fuel to the growing tension between tech platforms and media outlets over AI’s role in content distribution.
