US and Chinese officials are holding the second day of trade talks in Spain. The negotiations come as the deadline for TikTok’s owner to find a buyer or face a ban in the US approaches.
The talks are led by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng. These meetings aim to reach a trade agreement between the two countries. The previous meeting took place in July in Sweden, where the tariff truce was extended for 90 days.
The TikTok issue has been delayed several times, despite Trump’s initial decisions. The President had demanded a ban on the app but later extended the deadline.
During the talks, both countries are discussing reducing tariffs and getting extra time to address national security issues.
