Facebook algorithm updated and Reels recommendations improved

Meta announced a new algorithm for Facebook on Tuesday. According to it, users will now see more Reels videos that match their interests. The update includes video management, search suggestions powered by artificial intelligence, and new "friend bubbles".

Users can now more easily express which videos they do not want to see. By pressing the "Not interested" button or marking a comment on Reels videos, it will be possible to influence the recommendations system.

The "Save" function has also been updated, making it much easier to collect favorite Reels and posts in one place.

These changes may reduce complaints. Many users have complained about irrelevant, false, or low-quality AI videos. In response, Meta launched a new short video platform called "Vibes", which consists only of AI videos.

The updated algorithm prioritizes novelty. Now, 50 percent of the Reels videos users see will be those posted on the same day.

Reels will also include AI-based search suggestions. These suggestions will help users find even more content related to the topics they are interested in.

In addition, new friend bubbles will appear in Reels and the main feed. Through them, users can see which post was liked by which friend and can send a private message to that friend.
