An earthquake prediction system will be implemented in Uzbekistan

The President signed a decree "On additional measures to ensure seismic safety and further increase the effectiveness of work in the field of seismology."

The document provides for the forecasting of earthquake risks in the country, the creation of safe infrastructure, and the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies.

One of the main directions of the decree is the formation of a system for continuous monitoring of the seismic resistance of cultural heritage sites and road transport facilities. Measures have also been identified to digitalize seismic safety, analyze data using artificial intelligence, and assess soil strength at construction sites.

Starting January 1, 2026, a radar space monitoring system will be launched on the A-373 and M-39 highways and adjacent mountain railways. This system constantly monitors the risk of landslides.

In addition, a system for medium-term and long-term forecasting of strong earthquakes using artificial intelligence will be implemented in seismically active areas.

At the initial stage, this practice will be implemented as an experiment in Tashkent. From March 1, 2026, the seismic resistance of buildings and structures will be assessed through artificial intelligence analysis.

The purpose of the decree is to advance the prediction of the consequences of natural disasters and raise the safety of citizens to a new level.
