Emirates aircraft to be equipped with 2 Gbps Starlink system

Starlink system with 2 Gbps speed to be installed on Emirates aircraft

For the first time in history, Starlink has begun installing an internet system on a commercial aircraft providing speeds exceeding 2 Gbps. This was announced by Nick Zeyts, head of Starlink Aviation. Ixbt.com reports on this.

This technology is being implemented first on Emirates airline aircraft.

The new system has been installed on the flagship Emirates A380 aircraft. Previously, the internet bandwidth on these aircraft was below 1 Mbps; now, with the installation of three Starlink antennas on each plane, Wi-Fi quality will improve a thousandfold.

According to company representatives, passengers will be able to use internet that is better than at home, even at an altitude of 12 kilometers.

Throughout 2026, the Starlink system is planned to be installed on many A380 aircraft on an accelerated schedule. This will allow passengers to engage in video streaming, online gaming, and web browsing during flights.

The service will be free for all classes of passengers. In the future, the ability to watch live television broadcasts via personal devices and seatback screens will also be added.
