SNAPPY neutrino detector successfully launched into space

The SNAPPY neutrino detector, the first of its kind in space, has been launched into orbit via a SpaceX rocket. Part of the CAS500-2 mission, this project is expected to be a major breakthrough in fundamental astrophysics, as such experiments were previously conducted only on Earth. This was reported by Ixbt.com .

Neutrino particles are considered the most elusive particles in the universe. They barely interact with matter and pass through planets and stars without a trace. The SNAPPY project is based on the compact CubeSat platform from Kongsberg NanoAvionics and is being implemented in collaboration with NASA research centers.

Two other important devices were launched as part of the mission. The QUBE II satellite will test quantum key distribution technology, while the Eycore-1 radar enables high-resolution imaging of the Earth's surface regardless of weather conditions.

Kongsberg NanoAvionics has solidified its leadership in the space industry by successfully launching over 60 satellites. If the SNAPPY experiment proves successful, scientists will be able to directly observe processes at the core of the Sun and usher in a new era in neutrino astronomy.
