Threads launches messaging feature for web version

The Meta-owned social network Threads has now introduced the ability to send private and group messages on its web version for computers. This update brings the platform closer to the level of competitors like X and Bluesky. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .
Connor Hayes, head of product for Threads at Meta, noted that users requested the messaging feature on the web version most frequently. According to Hayes, many active users spend a lot of time at their desktops, so it is important for the communication app to work conveniently on any device.
A "Messages" tab has now appeared in the Threads web version. Through it, users can manage their private inbox, view incoming requests, and start new conversations quickly. Since the beginning of this year, the volume of messaging on the platform has increased by 30 percent, reaching an average of 350 million per week.
Additionally, Threads recently introduced the "Live Chats" feature. This capability helps facilitate real-time communication during important events such as NBA playoff games. Up to 150 participants can actively post messages, while others can watch in "viewer" mode and participate in polls.
