OpenAI introduces new GPT-5.5 Instant model for ChatGPT

On Tuesday, OpenAI launched a new core model for ChatGPT: GPT-5.5 Instant. This update replaces the previous GPT-5.3 Instant model. Company representatives stated that the new model significantly reduces hallucinations in sensitive fields such as law, medicine, and finance, while maintaining high speeds. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .
The new model showed high results in mathematical tests and multimodal reasoning benchmarks. Specifically, in the AIME 2025 test, GPT-5.5 Instant scored 81.2 points, a significant increase compared to 65.4 points in the previous model. It also outperformed its predecessor in the MMMU-Pro test with 76 points.
GPT-5.5 Instant features new capabilities for context management. ChatGPT can now access past conversations, files, and Gmail messages via its search tool to provide more personalized answers. For now, this feature is available to Plus and Pro subscribers on the web version and will be added to mobile apps in the near future.
For developers, the GPT-5.5 model is available via API under the name "chat-latest". Although OpenAI has faced criticism for removing previous models, the company continues its technological progress. The new system allows users to view and edit information sources, which serves to increase transparency.
