ChatGPT introduces new safety feature for users

OpenAI has launched a new Trusted Contact feature that provides assistance when signs of depression or self-harm risks are detected during AI interactions. This system allows users to designate trusted individuals who will be notified in emergencies. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
Users can select a relative over 18 and send them an invitation. If the system detects dangerous situations in ChatGPT conversations, the user is warned first. If the risk persists, OpenAI moderators assess the situation, and if confirmed, a notification is sent to the trusted contact via SMS or email.
The company maintains strict privacy: no chat history or details are shared with the trusted contact. The message only contains general information about the need to contact the user. The moderator review process takes less than an hour.
This feature was developed in collaboration with mental health experts. It is important to note that Trusted Contact does not replace doctors or emergency services. ChatGPT will continue to direct users to appropriate resources for professional help.
