Ongoing issues with GeForce RTX 5090

Power connector issues with GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards remain a pressing concern. German publication PCMasters.de reported that the 12V-2x6 cable melted on their MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC graphics card used in their test bench. This was reported by Ixbt.com .
The incident occurred during a system reboot while testing NVMe SSD storage. Editorial staff noticed smoke coming from the computer, and subsequent inspection revealed that the 12V-2x6 cable had fused to the graphics card, with its insulation melted.
Interestingly, despite the damage, the graphics card continued to function within Windows. However, tests conducted using FurMark and a thermal camera showed that the external contact was overheating. The cable on the NZXT C1500 power supply unit was also severely damaged.
Currently, PCMasters.de has contacted MSI regarding this defect, requesting a repair or replacement of the graphics card. This situation raises concerns among users regarding the safety of power connectors on high-performance graphics cards.
