Spotify adopts Apple technology for video podcasts

Spotify has announced the integration of HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) technology, developed to enhance video quality on the Apple Podcasts platform. This innovation allows podcasts hosted on Spotify to be easily distributed and monetized on Apple's platform. As a result, creators can reach a wider audience without any additional modifications to their content. This is reported by Techcrunch.com .
HLS technology automatically adjusts video quality in real-time based on internet speed. This allows users to watch high-quality videos without interruptions, regardless of whether they are using Wi-Fi or a mobile network. Spotify plans to fully roll out this update by the end of this year.
Additionally, Spotify is introducing new monetization methods for podcast creators, including direct sales and partnership integrations. Creators using hosting providers such as Libsyn, Podigee, Audioboom, Audiomeans, and Podspace can now publish their videos directly via Spotify and earn revenue through the Spotify Partner Program.
Having launched its video podcast segment in 2020, Spotify continues to strengthen its position in this field. As of November 2025, there are nearly half a million shows on the platform, with over 390 million users having watched video podcasts.
