A worker has died at the SpaceX Starbase launch site in Texas. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has launched an official investigation into the accident. The identity of the deceased and the details of the incident have not yet been disclosed, according to Techcrunch.com reports.
The tragedy occurred as SpaceX prepares for the launch of its upgraded Starship rocket. Company representatives and local officials declined to comment on the incident. OSHA stated that it will not provide further information until the investigation is complete, a process that could take several months.
The SpaceX Starbase facility has previously faced criticism over worker safety issues. Analyses conducted in 2025 showed that the site had a higher injury rate compared to other industry competitors. In January, OSHA imposed significant fines on SpaceX for safety violations related to a crane collapse.
The company has also faced several lawsuits regarding workplace injuries in recent years. Notably, an incident involving a serious injury to a contractor's employee last year also drew public attention. The current situation once again calls into question SpaceX's accountability regarding safety standards.
