NVIDIA Rival: New T-Head Zhenwu M890 Processor Unveiled in China

Alibaba has unveiled its new Zhenwu M890 chip designed for artificial intelligence. As US export restrictions tighten, the Chinese tech giant is accelerating efforts to create a viable local alternative to NVIDIA chips. This was reported by Ixbt.com {{TEXT_2}}
Created by Alibaba's semiconductor division T-Head, this chip delivers three times the performance of its predecessor, the Zhenwu 810E. It is specifically designed for AI "agents"—software systems capable of performing complex, multi-step tasks without human intervention.
According to the company, the new processor is well-suited for handling large memory and communication workloads. This is particularly important for agentic systems where models must maintain long-term context and coordinate actions in real-time.
Alibaba also announced a multi-year roadmap for chip development. Following the M890, the V900 is scheduled for release in Q3 2027, followed by the J900 in 2028. The V900 is expected to triple the performance of the M890.
