SpaceX to build new secret satellite network for the US

The US Space Force has signed a major $2.29 billion contract with SpaceX. The main goal of this agreement is to develop and launch a global low-Earth orbit satellite network that will serve as a "secure internet" in space. The project is named Space Data Network Backbone. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
The new system will consist of satellites connected by laser communication links. This technology allows for the transmission of massive amounts of classified data directly through space. As a result, the system will be completely independent of ground stations and traditional networks.
The SDN backbone component will become the primary transport layer for the US military communication architecture. In practice, SpaceX satellites will relay critical data in real-time between intelligence sensors, command centers, and strike complexes.
To implement this project, SpaceX will use its specialized Starshield satellites. Starshield is a modification of the civilian Starlink network, adapted for national security missions with encrypted communication channels.
The new backbone network will be fully integrated with the Space Development Agency's (SDA) Transport Layer constellation. The agency has already signed contracts with various commercial suppliers to launch over 300 communication satellites.
