The Blue Origin Miracle: New Glenn rocket survives powerful explosion

Blue Origin has announced unexpected good news: the first stage of the New Glenn heavy-lift rocket, named Never Tell Me The Odds, was not damaged by the powerful explosion that occurred at the LC-36 launch complex in Florida. CEO Dave Limp confirmed that specialists have already returned to the site and initial inspections show the booster and second stages are in good condition. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

It should be clarified that the rocket undergoing fire tests at the time was completely destroyed. However, Never Tell Me The Odds (GS1-SN002) and other components survived because they were inside the Horizontal Integration Facility (HIF) near the launch pad. At the time, this equipment was undergoing processing after previous flights.

Blue Origin management is considering the possibility of building a new launch complex at the site of the old LC-11, in addition to restoring the damaged LC-36 pad. This measure will allow for a faster return to testing and the ability to conduct launches from two pads simultaneously in the future.

As a reminder, a serious incident involving a New Glenn rocket previously occurred at Cape Canaveral. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman arrived at the scene and surveyed the extent of the destruction by helicopter. The company is currently continuing to investigate the causes of this anomaly.
