Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that production of low-cost cars will begin in Khorezm

The Damas plant in the Khorezm region will begin production of a 7-seater car that meets the Euro-5 class. Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this during his visit to the region.

“The President announced big news regarding the Damas plant in Tuprokkalya. This plant will begin production of an inexpensive car that is in great demand in the market at a cost of $100 million.

The car will meet the Euro-5 environmental standard and will have 7 seats,” the official report says.

Officials were instructed to complete negotiations with partners this year, start production using the large-unit assembly method next year, and move to a full cycle in 2027, bringing localization to 50 percent.

It is not known exactly what model of car is being discussed. It is also questionable whether the Damas will continue to be produced.

It should be recalled that in recent discussions related to the Piskent landfill, the safety and compliance with technical requirements of the Damas car, which has been produced in Uzbekistan for 29 years, have been questioned.

The history of the Damas car goes back to the Suzuki Every, which began to be produced in 1985. Production of the car began in Asaka in 1996, and was transferred to Pitnak in 2014.
