A new stage in medicine: the share of family doctors will be increased to 70 percent

Another important step has been taken in our country to further improve the healthcare system in line with modern requirements and ensure high-quality medical care for the population. The Presidential Decree “On measures to consistently continue reforming the sector by improving the healthcare system and the principles of providing medical services to the population in the Republic” has been adopted.

According to the document, a new approach to providing primary health care in the country will be introduced - a model that meets international standards, is digitized and closer to the population.

The main goals of the new system:

Reforming primary health care based on international practice;
Increasing the share of family doctors to 70 percent;
Reducing paperwork in medicine and reducing the excessive workload of doctors by up to 30 percent through digitization.

Changes starting from July 1, 2025

It is emphasized that from July 1 of this year, this new system will be launched as a pilot in the specified districts and cities. This process will be fully implemented in the Samarkand region from January 1, 2026.

As part of the experiment, specialized healthcare departments will be established on the basis of medical associations in each district and city. It is planned to increase the efficiency of medical services through these structures, and to widely introduce a transparent and citizen-oriented approach in working with patients.
