
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Robert Golob, within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Slovenia.
The issues of expanding multifaceted cooperation and practical partnership between Uzbekistan and Slovenia, primarily in the trade, economic and investment spheres, were in the spotlight.
The fruitful results of today's high-level negotiations were highly appreciated.
It was emphasized that it is important to intensify joint work in the fields of trade, investment and cooperation. It was noted that the business forum to be held as part of the visit will be an effective platform for establishing new contacts and promoting joint projects.
Measures were considered to increase the volume of trade turnover to 500 million euros by increasing mutual supplies of high-demand products. The "GSP+" system of preferences and the agreement on standardization signed today will also give impetus to trade growth.
A plan for the development of industrial cooperation is being prepared, with an emphasis on technological modernization. In this regard, the aspirations of leading Slovenian companies to implement projects in Uzbekistan in the fields of electrical engineering, equipment manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, "green" energy, and "smart" agriculture were supported.
It was proposed to locate such production facilities in a special industrial park being created in our country for European companies under the management of "Inpark".
It was agreed to create a permanent expert group and prepare the necessary regulatory and legal framework in order to establish systematic cooperation in the field of labor migration.
It was also agreed to jointly study the possibilities of establishing direct air flights between the two countries and using the infrastructure of the Koper port to access the European Union market for Uzbek products.
Issues of expanding cultural and humanitarian exchange were a separate topic of the negotiations. Particular interest was expressed in the experience of Slovenia in developing ecological tourism, including in mountainous and rural areas.
The importance of developing joint educational programs, including the Youth Innovation Forum in Tashkent, was noted. Also, next year, mutual cultural days and the Uzbek Cinema Week will be held in Ljubljana.
In order to advance the identified areas of cooperation, it was agreed to hold the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Ljubljana in July this year.
In addition, in order to ensure the timely and high-quality implementation of the agreements reached and the signed agreements, a comprehensive "road map" will be adopted by the governments of the two countries.
