In Uzbekistan, driver responsibility on the roads is increasing. Starting from August 1, 2024, the base calculation amount (BCA) will increase from 375 thousand soums to 412 thousand soums, which in turn will lead to an automatic increase in the amount of various administrative fines.
From now on, violating traffic rules will "cost more." The fine amounts for each violation have been raised. Below are the main changes:
1. Not wearing a seatbelt — 206 thousand soums (previously 187.5 thousand);
2. Driving without a first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, or other mandatory items in the vehicle — 206 thousand;
3. Not complying with road signs or driving in pedestrian zones — 206 thousand;
4. Driving without documents — 412 thousand;
5. Driving without insurance — 412 thousand;
6. Running a red light — 824 thousand;
7. Parking in unauthorized places — 824 thousand;
8. Using a phone or talking while driving — 1 million 236 thousand;
9. Driving without a license plate — 2 million 60 thousand soums.
Fines for speeding will also become more serious:
- Exceeding speed by up to 20 km/h — 412 thousand;
- From 20 to 40 km/h — 2 million 60 thousand;
- More than 40 km/h — 3 million 708 thousand soums.
The heaviest penalties apply to those driving under the influence:
- Refusing a medical examination while intoxicated — 6 million 180 thousand and up to 3 years of license suspension;
- Driving while intoxicated — 10 million 300 thousand and up to 3 years of disqualification;
- Also, driving into the opposite lane — a fine of 4 million 120 thousand soums.
Officials noted that these measures are aimed at ensuring road safety, preventing accidents, and encouraging drivers to be more responsible. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
