Another large-scale drug deal has been stopped by Uzbekistan’s law enforcement agencies. This time, the incident took place in the historic and busy Samarkand region, specifically involving two residents of Urgut. They attempted to sell a banned substance — 1 kilogram of narcotics — for 10,000 USD.
Fake deal — strong evidence: operation planned by the State Security Service was successful
During a special operation carried out on June 18, 2025, by the internal affairs system and special services, the two individuals were caught red-handed. They resided in Urgut district, and it had been previously reported that they were involved in drug trafficking.
According to sources close to the investigation, these two individuals had known each other for many years and had been engaged in illegal activity for a long time. They used to sell 1 gram of drugs for 130,000 soums, and later planned to import large batches from abroad and sell them through Samarkand.
Caught in the trap: price — 10,000 dollars, cargo — 1 kilogram
Their plans were ruined during the operation conducted in the Galaosiyo neighborhood. Security officers, under surveillance, exposed their intentions through a pseudo-buyer. During the transaction of money and drugs, law enforcement agents intervened and arrested the suspects with material evidence.
Legal measures: heavy substance — heavy liability
A criminal case was opened under Article 273, Part 5 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan — illegal large-scale sale of narcotic or psychotropic substances. After investigation, both individuals were remanded into custody.
Experts say that this amount of drugs could have affected at least 1,000 people. So, this operation may very well have saved hundreds of lives.
Social danger: not a trend, but a death trap
Narcotics do not only destroy one person but can also endanger an entire layer of society. Ongoing educational campaigns targeting youth are aimed at preventing such threats. Still, some individuals prefer overnight "profit" to honest labor, putting countless lives at risk.
Conclusion: security — a responsibility shared by all
This case in Samarkand should serve as a stark reminder: drug trafficking is not just a crime, it’s a war against society. Combating this evil requires not only law enforcement but also the involvement of parents, educational institutions, local communities, and the public at large.
