Man arrested for stabbing inspector in Uchtepa

An incident that occurred in the 31st neighborhood of the Uchtepa district in Tashkent city has sparked significant debate and astonishment among the public. Audio and video footage circulating on social media show a citizen attacking a law enforcement officer with a knife and attempts to restrain him. The Tashkent City Police Department issued an official statement regarding this matter.

Location and time of the incident. On June 21 of this year, around 14:30, a serious altercation—not a mere disagreement—occurred between two citizens in the 31st neighborhood of the Uchtepa district. Citizens U.M. and N.T. got into an argument which escalated, during which U.M. inflicted bodily injury on N.T. with a knife. The injured party was promptly taken to a hospital and diagnosed with a "stabbed-cut wound to the left chest area."

Prompt security measures and arrest. Shortly after the incident, preventive inspector O. Abdullaev from Uchtepa swiftly decided to act and locate the crime scene. Based on available information, he began searching for the perpetrator “hot on the trail.” At that moment, U.M. approached the inspector aggressively and resisted arrest with a knife. Fortunately, thanks to the inspector's quick response and support from other law enforcement officers, U.M. was subdued and apprehended. The knife used in the assault was seized as material evidence. Nearby officers were unharmed.

Legal statement and investigation process. In accordance with Article 105, part 2, clause "m" of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm using a weapon or item that can be used as a cold weapon), a criminal case has been opened by the investigative department under the Uchtepa district police. During the ongoing preliminary investigation, the suspect’s personal data is being thoroughly reviewed. Video footage, photographs, witness statements, and other evidence are also being carefully examined.

The armed attack on a public servant performing his duty has become a serious topic of discussion. Ultimately, the health and safety of law enforcement personnel are emphasized as a top priority in ensuring public security.
