Uzbekistan and Russia agree to boost number of flights

On July 21–22 in Moscow, aviation authorities from Uzbekistan and Russia held discussions to expand air services. Delegations from both countries’ transport ministries and representatives from Uzbekistan’s embassy attended. They discussed increasing flight frequency, expanding destinations, and granting rights to airlines of both nations.
The agreements included:
Designated airlines of each country will operate weekly:
• Tashkent–Moscow: 50 flights each (total 100);
• Samarkand–Moscow: 23 each (total 46);
• Bukhara, Urgench, Fergana, Namangan–Moscow: 14 each (112 total);
• Tashkent–St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Sochi: 14 each (42 total);
• Termez–Moscow: 10 each (20 total).
Other cities: 7 flights per week each. Russian carriers allowed up to 560 weekly flights from 80 Russian airports to Uzbekistan; Uzbek carriers up to 203 weekly flights to 29 major Russian airports.
Introduction of triangular routes connecting three cities: carriers may choose up to five cities for such routes without limits on number of airlines.
Under this agreement, airlines from both nations are authorized to operate over 1,000 weekly flights, compared to about 310 currently.
The deal aims to increase passenger and freight traffic, further tourism, and enhance bilateral trade-economic cooperation between the countries.
