Uzbek migrants send record amount of money in 3 months

In the current year, in the second quarter, Uzbek labor migrants sent very large amounts of money to their homeland. According to the “Labor Market Overview” published by the Central Bank, in the second quarter of 2025, a total of $4.8 billion in remittances was transferred to the country. This figure represents an increase of 21.4 percent compared to the same period last year, while in the corresponding period of 2024, an increase of 38.6 percent was observed, reported [Central Bank].

Experts note that the current dynamics are mainly related to the relative stability of the currency, wage increases, and high economic activity in the countries hosting labor migrants. In addition, the growth in transfer volumes was significantly higher in certain regions.

Specifically, remittances from the Baltic countries and Europe increased significantly. For example, remittances from the Baltic countries rose by 65.6 percent compared to the same period last year. This indicates that Uzbek migrants in this region are sending additional funds to their homeland.

At the same time, the growth rates of remittances from the USA, Russia, and European countries slowed down: in the USA by 10.3, in Russia by 23.7, and in Europe by 26.9 percent. Meanwhile, remittances from Asia remained relatively stable.

Recent changes in the external market and the increased demand for labor migrants have been important in shaping the current dynamics of remittances. This, in turn, shows that the flows of Uzbek migrants are expanding to new directions, and their economic contribution to the country is significant.

Experts emphasize that such high figures bring additional benefits to the national economy and are important for improving the living conditions of families. Moreover, this process shows that in the future the volume of remittances will remain stable, creating additional economic opportunities for migrants and their families.
