On September 2, extensive negotiations were held in Beijing with the participation of the official delegation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of China Xi Jinping.

At the meeting, issues of further strengthening the strategic partnership and expanding practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in all areas were discussed in detail.

At the beginning of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated Xi Jinping and the Chinese people on the 80th anniversary of the Victory and the successful holding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin. At the same time, the President of Uzbekistan reiterated the importance and relevance of the global governance initiative put forward by the Chinese leader.

The heads of state noted the significant progress achieved in relations between the two countries in recent years. The growing dynamics of contacts at all levels, the strengthening of political dialogue, and mutual support on important issues were especially noted. It was also confirmed that Uzbekistan's position on the "One China" policy and the fight against terrorism, extremism, and separatism remains unchanged.

Trade, economic, technological, and financial-investment cooperation between the two countries is consistently developing. For example, last year trade turnover exceeded $14 billion, and since the beginning of the year, it has grown by another 23 percent. The goal is to increase this figure to 20 billion through mutual supplies of industrial and agricultural products. The portfolio of investment projects exceeds $60 billion, and in 2024, 64 projects with a total value of more than $10 billion were launched. Joint technoparks and special industrial zones operate in the regions of Uzbekistan, and the production of BYD electric vehicles is expanding and the level of localization is increasing.

The intensification of interregional exchanges was highly appreciated. Based on the Chinese experience, expert support will continue in the implementation of joint measures aimed at eradicating poverty in the country. To promote innovative projects and train highly qualified specialists, Uzbekistan and China proposed establishing a Center for the Development of Artificial Intelligence. The beginning of the practical phase of the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan strategic railway was also noted with satisfaction.

The need to further expand cooperation in the fields of science, medicine, education, and tourism was emphasized. A branch of the Northwest University of Agriculture and Forestry and the International Mathematical Center have been opened in the country, an agreement on the opening of a branch of the Xi'an University of Oil has been signed, and a branch of the Beijing Technological Institute is planned to be opened. This year, the second Educational Forum will be held in Uzbekistan. Support was expressed for expanding the study of the Chinese language and increasing quotas for youth education, as well as developing the activities of Confucius Institutes. "Lu Ban Workshops," which will train specialists in the fields of energy, mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence, medicine, and agriculture, will also be organized in the regions of Uzbekistan.

These days, Uzbekistan is also participating in a large exhibition at the National Museum of China. In 2027, art exhibitions are planned to be held in Shanghai and Beijing. Within the framework of the visit, the adoption of a historic agreement on the opening of cultural centers is also planned.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the international agenda. The importance of coordination and mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, the SCO, the "Central Asia - China" format, and other multilateral structures was emphasized.

At the conclusion of the talks, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the Chinese leader to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan and expressed his firm commitment to further developing the prospects for bilateral cooperation.
