A new stage with St. Petersburg: 23 projects launched

On September 10, the head of the country, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received a Russian delegation led by the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov. During the conversation, issues of further expanding mutually beneficial partnership, primarily deepening economic cooperation networks with St. Petersburg, and implementing cultural and humanitarian exchange programs were discussed in detail.

The meeting noted with satisfaction that mutual trade turnover is steadily growing: by the end of last year, the volume of export and import at the regional level increased by 20 percent. Against this background, it was announced that practical work is underway on the project to establish a Business Center in the capital and to build a "Petersburg area" in the New Tashkent region - these initiatives are expected to create a new platform for business contacts and an additional driver for tourist flows and the creative industry.

As part of this visit, the most important step was the adoption of a "roadmap" for the implementation of 23 cooperation projects covering a number of areas of industry and services. The list included such sectors as metallurgy, equipment manufacturing, road infrastructure construction, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, food industry, agriculture and logistics. It was noted that each project has set goals such as technological innovation, increasing production efficiency and creating joint value chains.

At the same time, specific proposals were supported to expand practical partnership in the fields of private medicine, education, utilities, digital technologies, migration and tourism. In these areas, it is planned to implement personnel training, exchange of experience, implementation of advanced management solutions and digitalization projects on a synergistic basis.

The parties paid special attention to the consistent continuation of active humanitarian relations: an agreement was reached on the regular organization of joint cultural events, the expansion of exchange programs between creative teams and youth. It was noted that such interaction not only strengthens trust between people, but also opens up new opportunities in tourism, the creative economy and education.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to jointly consider measures aimed at effectively holding the second meeting of the Council of Regions of the two countries in October this year. This platform will provide an opportunity for authorities, businesses and experts to discuss specific projects, resolve issues on a "one-stop shop" basis, and sign new partnership agreements.

In conclusion, we can say: a 20 percent increase in trade over the past year and a "road map" containing 23 projects indicate a readiness to take bilateral cooperation to a new level. The business center, the "Petersburg area" and humanitarian exchanges will serve to combine economic and cultural content in this way, providing long-term results. Now the focus is on the October council meeting and the concrete agreements that will be formed there.
