It was noted that the poverty level in the Namangan region will decrease by 2.5 times in a short period of time. This was announced today, September 16, at a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the socio-economic development of the Namangan region.
"Every time I visit this region, I am pleased to see the high mood of the population, the constant activity and search of every person, young and old. Today, having familiarized myself with the positive changes in the region and the newly launched enterprises, I was once again convinced that our reforms are on the right track," the head of state said at the beginning of the meeting.
It was reported that significant and important work has been carried out in Namangan in recent years. It was especially noted that it is no coincidence that the international forum on poverty reduction, which begins tomorrow, is being held in the city of Namangan.
"In a short period of time, poverty in Namangan decreased by 2.5 times. This is primarily due to the favorable conditions created and the hard work and effective actions of the region's population," the report says.
According to the presidential press service, over the past eight years, $7 billion in foreign investment has been attracted to the region, and about 8,000 new enterprises have been launched. The range of exported products has doubled and exceeded one thousand. The real average income of the population has tripled. 82 percent of the working-age population earns income through small business and entrepreneurship.
The head of state also noted that the region has sufficient resources and favorable conditions for the development of all key development areas.
At the meeting, important tasks were set for the khokim of the region and his deputies, khokims of 14 districts and cities: attracting $4.2 billion in investments by the end of the year, bringing exports to $1 billion, providing employment for 323 thousand people, and lifting 26 thousand families out of poverty.
Based on the example of the Shurarik mahalla of the Naryn district, where more than 5 thousand people live, measures have been defined for a radical change in the appearance of "difficult" mahallas and the improvement of the urban environment. In such mahallas, a modern mahalla guzar will be built, children's and sports grounds, service facilities, a library, a vocational and language training center, and a bank branch will be organized. Streets will be paved and illuminated, and outdated parks will be completely renovated.
100 billion soums will be allocated to Kosonsoy and Norin districts, and 5 billion soums to two "difficult" mahallas of the remaining districts, a total of 320 billion soums will be directed to the creation of the best exemplary territories.
It should be recalled that earlier, during his visit to Namangan region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Shurariq neighborhood in the difficult conditions of the Naryn district. More than 5 thousand people live there, 62 poor families, 118 unemployed, and 157 people are in migration.
