On September 17, within the framework of the international forum "From Poverty to Prosperity," held in Namangan, a meeting was held between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad bin Suleiman Al-Jasser.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of this authoritative international financial organization sincerely congratulated on the successful holding of the forum and noted that the IsDB is ready to fully support the tasks of further poverty reduction in Uzbekistan.
Issues of further expansion of full-scale cooperation with the Bank Group in order to promote the implementation of the irreversible reform strategy in our country were discussed.
The dynamic development of partnership with the IDB in recent years was noted with particular satisfaction. The portfolio of joint projects exceeds $5 billion and currently covers such priority areas as transport, infrastructure, housing construction, energy, healthcare, and education. At the same time, more than 40 percent of investments are in the private sector.
The Head of our state put forward an initiative to adopt a long-term Strategic Partnership Program with the IDB, which provides for doubling the project portfolio and increasing the volume of financing for infrastructure, social and private sector projects.
Special attention was paid to the realization of the potential of private business, the construction of modern medical centers in the regions of the country, the modernization of roads, the restoration and concreting of irrigation canals, and the promotion of specific projects in other areas.
