Mongolia exports a significant portion of its meat and meat products to Uzbekistan, China, the UAE, Qatar, Kazakhstan, and Vietnam. This was announced by the country's Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry.
In the first eight months of 2025, the country sold 18.1 thousand tons of meat and meat products. This is 10.9% less than in the same period last year. Sheep and goat meat accounted for 63% of exports.
According to the data, the main part of the products was delivered to China, the UAE, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. In Mongolia, livestock farming is the main branch of the economy, from which about 40% of the population makes a living. However, due to the long and difficult winter season, many livestock breeders lose their livestock year after year.
According to the National Statistics Committee, at the end of 2024, there were 57.6 million head of cattle in the country.
We remind you that on June 27 of this year, at a meeting between the authorities of Mongolia and Uzbekistan, an agreement was reached on the supply of 2,000 tons of halal horse and lamb meat.
