The President of Finland flew to Tashkent by regular flight

President of Finland Alexander Stubb arrived in Uzbekistan on October 29 on an official visit, uza.uz reports. This visit is expected to mark the beginning of a new stage in relations between the two countries. The President was solemnly welcomed at the Tashkent International Airport by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev and a number of government officials.

The most noteworthy aspect is that the Finnish leader arrived in Tashkent on a regular Uzbekistan Airways flight (HY-722, Airbus A320) on the Astana-Tashkent route. This demonstrates the president's simple and open style, as well as the development of relations between the two countries in a new and practical direction.

Prior to Alexander Stubb's visit today, he had been on an official visit to Kazakhstan on October 28-29. Now, the high-level talks in Tashkent are of strategic importance for the two countries.

According to UzA, during the talks, issues of expanding multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Finland, in particular, deepening relations in the political, trade-economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, will be discussed. Also on the agenda are joint projects in the field of labor migration, "green economy," education, and advanced technologies.

Within the framework of the visit, it is planned to sign a number of important documents between the heads of the two states, as well as hold a business forum and scientific cooperation meetings.

Alexander Stubb's visit will last four days - until November 1, he is also expected to hold meetings with a number of institutions in the political and economic centers of Uzbekistan.

From a historical point of view, this is the first visit of the President of Finland to Uzbekistan in 33 years. Previously, only once, in 1992, the former President of Finland, Mauno Kuivisto, paid an official visit to Tashkent.

Experts note that this visit will not only develop relations between the two countries, but will also increase Finland's interest in the Central Asian region.

The negotiations in Tashkent are an important step in Uzbekistan's policy of rapprochement with European countries and can open new doors of economic and technological cooperation for Finland.

Thus, Alexander Stubb's visit is expected to become not only an official diplomatic event, but also a new historical page for the two countries.
