An extraordinary incident occurred in Navoi region. For a local entrepreneur, this could have turned into a financial crisis.
Due to a mistake made by a salesperson at a retail outlet, the price of two peppers was shown as 2 billion soums at the register. This was reported by the Press Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the Ministry, instead of issuing a receipt for 20,000 soums, the salesperson mistakenly created a receipt for 2 billion soums for the peppers. As a result of this incident, a huge tax liability was automatically generated for the point of sale.
The entrepreneur identified the mistake and applied to the Tax Committee, requesting to correct the erroneous receipt. However, the request was denied.
The responsible officials justified this by stating that the information recorded at the register could not be changed. Since the entrepreneur could not resolve the issue before going to court, he applied to the Navoi City Inter-District Administrative Court.
He demanded that the refusal of the territorial tax office to correct the fiscal document be declared illegal. In the end, the court ruled in favor of the entrepreneur.
The actions of the tax service employees were found to be illegal, and the disputed receipt was canceled.
