Some benefits will be automatically assigned from 2026

Starting from January 1 of next year, Uzbekistan will launch a new system of state social insurance, reported the Ministry of Justice.

According to Presidential Decree No. PF–206, the new procedure will provide citizens with the opportunity to receive social protection services in a more convenient and efficient manner.

Under the new system, citizens can join the insurance program in two ways — mandatory or voluntary. Mandatory insurance will be covered by a portion of the personal income tax, while those wishing to participate voluntarily will pay a monthly contribution equal to 5 percent of the minimum wage.

The amount of insurance payments will be determined based on citizens’ insurance record and the total amount of contributions paid.

Another important feature of the new system is the automatic assignment of certain benefits. From January 1, 2026, maternity and childbirth benefits, and from July 1, 2026, temporary disability benefits will be paid proactively by the fund without requiring documents from citizens.

Starting in 2030, unemployment benefits are also planned to be assigned in the same manner.

According to the proposals, the amount of the benefit will depend on work experience: citizens with less than 8 years of service will receive 60 percent of their salary, while those with more than 8 years will receive 80 percent. In addition, families with four or more children or caring for a child with a disability will receive an additional 20 percent.
