The number of kindergartens in Uzbekistan has exceeded 38 thousand

Growth in the preschool education sector is being observed in Uzbekistan, the National Statistics Committee reported.

By the end of 2024, the number of operating preschool educational institutions in the country reached 38,058. This figure exceeds that of 2023 by more than 2,000, indicating a steady expansion of the system.

According to the data, the majority of kindergartens — more than 28,700 — are family-based non-governmental institutions. In recent years, the active growth of this sector has been driven by government support for the private sector and the simplification of licensing procedures.

The largest number of kindergartens is located in the Samarkand (4,507), Andijan (4,324), Kashkadarya (4,216), and Fergana (4,189) regions. The lowest figures are recorded in Tashkent city (1,047) and Syrdarya region (1,145).

Experts note that the increase in the number of kindergartens contributes to early childhood development and improves the quality of education. At the same time, raising teachers’ qualifications and strengthening quality control remain key priorities.
