At a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, new decisions were made to support the private sector in the healthcare sector. Customs privileges for the import of medical equipment, equipment, and ambulances will be extended for another three years.
Over the past eight years, the number of private clinics and laboratories in Uzbekistan has tripled and exceeded 9 thousand. The number of beds in them exceeds 57 thousand. Today, 30% of medical services in the country are provided by the private sector.
The Head of State positively assessed these results and noted the emergence of advanced initiatives in the field of private medicine. The government also expressed its readiness to consider all proposals for expanding private partnership.
It was noted that the cost of services in private clinics is lower than in republican medical centers. Therefore, from now on, a procedure will be introduced for directing medical insurance funds to private clinics chosen by the patient, whose services are affordable and high-quality.
At the meeting, it was also announced that the VAT refund benefit provided to public catering enterprises will also apply to private medical institutions.
Financial support is also provided for large projects: $200 million in concessional resources will be allocated to entrepreneurs for the creation and equipping of modern multidisciplinary clinics. These funds are provided for a period of 7 years with a grace period of 3 years at a rate of 17 percent.
It is expected that these measures will give impetus to the development of private medicine, will make it possible to provide the population with high-quality and affordable medical services.
